Troubleshooting

Start with Request Logs. If a request doesn't show up there, it never reached Standard Compute, so the problem is in the client configuration.

401 Unauthorized​

  • Check the header is exactly Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY, with no extra spaces or quotes.
  • Make sure the key hasn't been rotated. Copy a fresh one from the dashboard.
  • With the launcher, run standardcompute login after rotating a key.

404 Not Found​

  • OpenAI clients need /v1 in the base URL: https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1.
  • Claude Code needs the base URL without /v1: https://api.stdcmpt.com.

400 model_not_found​

The model ID doesn't exist or is misspelled. Use standardcompute, or copy an exact ID from the Models page. Legacy Claude names like sonnet only work on the Messages API.

402 Payment required​

Your budget is used up (budget_exhausted), your free trial has ended (free_quota_exhausted), or a payment failed. Check the Billing page.

429 Too many requests​

Wait for the number of seconds in the retry-after header, then retry. Agents that retry immediately in a tight loop make this worse.

503 Service unavailable​

The model is temporarily unavailable after automatic retries. Try again shortly, or use standardcompute so the router can pick another model. Regional models (:eu, :us) return 503 rather than leave their region.

The agent loops or picks the wrong tool​

Give it fewer tools and clearer instructions, or limit its turns. If you pinned a small model, try standardcompute.

Still stuck?​

Contact support with the exact error message, the time of the request and the tool you're using. Remove your API key from anything you send.
